The president of the Independent Greeks and Minister of National Defense Panos Kammenos told journalists that his party no longer supports the Alternate Minister of Migration Policy Yannis Mouzalas and insists upon his resignation, in relation to his controversial remark regarding FYROM.

Mr. Kammenos made the statement following a meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, in response to the furor caused. Reports have suggested that Mr. Mouzalas has already submitted his resignation, but a decision as to whether it will be accepted will be made after the critical summit on Thursday and Friday.

At present the Prime Minister and his coalition government partner Panos Kammenos are debating this crisis at an emergency government meeting that was called on Wednesday morning. The meeting was initially to focus on the refugee crisis and bailout review, however the agenda changed at the insistence of Mr. Kammenos.

Present at the meeting are Government Vice President Yannis Dragasakis, the Ministers of Education Nikos Filis, Environment Panos Skourletis, the President of Parliament Nikos Voutsis and government spokesperson Olga Gerovasili.
