For some time now, the government has insisted upon cultivating various delusions over the role of a number of politicians in managing the Greek crisis. Mr. Schäuble is a favorite target, who is charged with perpetually undermining Mr. Tsipras and Greece in general, compared to Mrs. Merkel who is understanding and compassionate… Only yesterday the German Chancellor herself publicly praised her minister for managing the Greek problem, whilst accusing the Greek government for the delays that were testing for the entire Eurozone.

The constant struggle from government officers and the Prime Minister himself, to identify the good for and the bad against Greece is both pointless and problematic. Because it was rather clear, according Mrs. Merkel, that the stance of Europe is unambiguous and persistent. Assuming responsibility and solidarity are inextricably linked together, she argued, adding that this must continue to be the case.

So long as the government does not realize this and insists on seeking out allies where there are none, the problems will get worse and the stabilization of the country and economy will be in jeopardy. Eight months of endless negotiations that caused significant damage to the economy should have been enough for some of the government officers to finally realize how the game is played in Europe.

Attitudes, such as that of Transport Minister Spirtzis who signed the concession of the airports the one day and claims that the previous government sold them the next, simply represents the sadness and disappointment that are not tolerated by any serious government. You can’t have TAIPED state that after the bank recapitalization, the concession agreement is a major development, while the relevant minister plays dumb…

The government must overcome its contradictions and the delays, while setting aside the search for enemies and saboteurs. They have the responsibility of solving and managing the country’s problems – success or failure is up to them, not Mr. Schäuble…
