The cost of the upcoming elections in main opposition party New Democracy for a new president has been estimated to be about 800,000 euros.
With the conservative party already facing serious debt problems, the main candidates are concerned over the cost, since many details regarding the vote – including the date – have not yet been determined.
The likeliest dates for the elections to take place are the 1st and 8th of November, however there are also thoughts about the 15th of November, given that many technical issues are unresolved and provisions have to be made should a second round be needed.
New Democracy’s central election committee has arranged to meet on Thursday in order to discuss the problems at hand.
