The Government Vice President Yannis Dragasakis will have a greater role in the coalition government, with the Prime Minister giving him the important role of coordinating financial policy, social policy and national defense.

At Friday’s first meeting of the new ministerial council, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras outlined the importance of establishing councils for these three sectors of coordination.

According to a report in Ta Nea, upon his return to Greece from New York, PM Alexis Tsipras will announce the composition of the mini Ministerial Council, a government body which will focus on important issues under the supervision of the prime Minister. This council will reportedly see the participation of 6-7 government officials in charge of strategic ministries.
