If anything, the meeting of the governing party’s central committee over the weekend illustrated the lack in understanding of the circumstances and more so that lack of strategy by the specific party formation, especially with regards to the country’s position and path in the world.
From the many differing positions it became clear that a significant portion of SYRIZA officers have not yet come to terms with the European path, the need for the country to remain within the Eurozone.
It turns out that there was no plan, not even a rudimentary preparation to govern the country.
The party of the new Left only had impressions about how to govern a country and a people. That is why we have this mess and inability, why there is such a lack of determination.
It is no coincidence that a number of central committee officer are still flirting, even now, with the idea of a default and a return to the drachma.
They speak of the return to the drachma as if it is the simplest of affairs, disregarding the financial, social and national consequences.
Some state with utmost certainty that it will need a few months to adapt and return to growth!
It is unfortunate that they believe this nonsense and do not understand that the humanitarian catastrophe, which they currently invoke, will pale before the disaster a possible default and return to national currency will bring in the present international political and financial circumstances.
But fair enough, they don’t know what they are on about; the worse thing is that the opposition that stood up against these beliefs was week and mostly apologetic.
The party president himself avoided a direct clash with those who prefer that drachma over to remain in Europe.
Irrespective of the reasons why, he toyed with them, did not want to clarify that the strategic choices of a country cannot change as simply, just because some believe it is time to satisfy the dogmatic beliefs and desires of their youth.
Instead of brave clearing up, he decided to stand up against the “bad guys”, the “underminers”, the “sinful” media, where his party officers spend all day propagandizing their conspiracy theories and the foolishness that defines then, via the so-called enemies.
Truth by told, there is more than enough confusion in the party that governs us. That is why the constant uncertainty. In any case it is not the “enemies” and “sinful media” that are maintaining it.
The difference is that there are only a few more days for the government to clear up the confusion and decide whether it wants to choose the path of effort or that of loss.
Everything else is for domestic consumption…
