The Ministry of Finances in downtown Athens was occupied by a group of POE-DOY unionists, in response to the conversion of the General Secretariat of Public Revenue into an independent authority.

According to the unionists, this conversion that was included in the omnibus bill recently submitted in Parliament conflicts with constitutional provisions. The unionists have planned a press conference later in the day to detail their objections.

After the conversion is finalized, the new authority will operate independently from the Ministry of Finance and have its own budget, which will not be subject to any review by state or government bodies.
