An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale in Crete was reported, at about 4:40 on Thursday morning.

According to the Institute of Geodynamics and the National Observatory of Athens the epicenter of the earthquake was located 16 kilometers east-northeast of Zakros or 388 kilometers southeast of Athens.

The earthquake also took place at a depth of 28 kilometers and was felt across Zakros, Paleokastro, as well as the eastern and southern sections of Lasithi.

Two smaller tremors followed the main earthquake, on at 4:46 measuring 2.9R and another at 4:50 measuring 3.4R.

No damages have so far been reported as a result of the seismic activity.
