The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has arranged to meet with farmers on Friday, after he returns from the EU summit in Brussels, in order to discuss their demands.

Meanwhile the farmers at the Mikrothives road block have announced that they will cut off access on the Athens-Thessaloniki national highway between noon and 6pm on Thursday and Friday. Detours around the block add an extra 45 kilometers to the journey.

In response to the Greek blockade at Promachonas, on the borders with Bulgaria, Bulgarian drivers have blocked access to Greece from their side. Bulgarian authorities have called the EU to help towards lifting the blockade on the Greek side, since it has caused significant losses to Bulgarian logistics firms.

Official estimates indicate that about 800 trucks and 160 cars are stuck on the Greek side of the border while nearly 1,000 trucks and 500 cars are on the Bulgarian side, unable to cross over.
