The Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Selahattin Demirtaş has argued that Europe is consciously ignoring the violation of Kurdish human rights in Turkey, in hopes of a de-escalation of the refugee crisis.

In an interview for the Efimerida ton Syntakton, Mr. Demirtaş further claimed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan neither can nor has the intention of actually solving the refugee crisis.

Mr. Demirtaş further commented that Europe is preparing to give in to the threats and extortion of the Turkish President, which he estimated will be a major mistake, as he will not provide a solution to crisis.

Additionally, the HDP chairman argued that Kurdish forces in Syria are trying to cut off supply routes to Islamic terrorist groups, such as the al-Nusra Front, but that the Turkish Armed Forces are actively trying to prevent the efforts.
