The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and government Vice President Evangelos Venizelos have agreed upon the line in the sand which they will draw in the upcoming talks with the troika Athens on the reforms in labor and insurance. The two government leaders met with the Minister of Finances on Monday and decided to counter the troika’s obsessive demands with proof of the positive developments in the Greek economy.

The government’s main argument will be that significant reforms have been implemented, while preparations for further structural changes are being made. However, the government is going to argue that further such changes must not cause social reactions and cite the recommendation of social partners to not overthrow the current labor and insurance relations.

Mrs. Samaras appears optimistic that his government’s efforts of the past two years are enough to convince the troika that Greece will implement the Greek program. The Prime Minister is also confident that he will avoid early general elections over the upcoming Presidential election and is against any change in the electoral law, contrary to his government partner’s wishes.
