The leader of The River, Stavros Theodorakis, appeared on Mega Channel’s morning show, where he discussed his aims and goals with his newly-formed party.

Mr. Theodorakis stressed that funding for political parties must be slashed, as over 500 million euros have been invested in the parties over the past decade. To illustrate his point, the journalist-cum-political leader noted that “a vote in Greece costs 10 euros, when in Germany it only costs 3 euros”.

When asked about his party’s positions on critical matters, Mr. Theodorakis responded that “we do not have the manual of politics with answers for all issues. We have certain principles” and revealed that after the upcoming European elections he will present his party’s official positions and plans “so that we can see with whom we can govern the country”.

Mr. Theodorakis explained that “I am interested in forming a government with 51% [of seats in Parliament]. The country cannot have a government that is 25% right wing and 25% left wing”.

When told that former PASOK MP and minister Theodoros Pangalos revealed that he intends to vote for The River, Mr. Theodorakis quoted theCharilaos Florakis, one of the Communist Party’s most prominent divs, and commented that “votes don’t smell“.
