The Prime Minister’s associate and consultant Failos Kranidiotis has announced that he has withdrawn his candidacy from the upcoming European elections. Mr. Kranidiotis is one of the more outspoken and conservative consultants of Prime Minister Samaras.
Mr. Kranidiotis told To Vima that he has “work to do and [does] not need anyone”. He also denied discussing the matter with Prime Minister Samaras. Mr. Kranidiotis’ candidacy did not receive the warm welcome from New Democracy he expected, with various party members expressing their disagreement.
Aside from the frequent clashes with members from the opposition, especially SYRIZA, the controversial Mr. Kranidiotis has often found himself at odds with various members of New Democracy, as he openly espouses nationalist ideas and has spoken of approaching Golden Dawn voters.
