The Ministry of Interior has announced that the fixed-term contracts for cleaning services in the public sector will be extended automatically, in order to address “emergency, seasonal or temporary needs”.
In the past there have been problems regarding cleanliness after fixed contracts lapsed and provisions for a new tender were not made in time. This provision will thus ensure that cleaning services are provided in sensitive areas, such as hospitals.
According to the statement issued by the Interior Ministry, the legal provision for the automatic extension was included as an amendment to a recent education bill.
