The latest official count indicates that there are a total of 53,824 refugees in Greece, with 3,758 camped at the port of Piraeus and 7,353 on the islands. The Ariadne ferry boat brought 24 refugees from Lesvos, while a further 9 arrived in Piraeus on Sunday on board the Nisos Myconos.

Greek authorities have escalated their efforts to move the migrants and refugees from the port, with the first bus to depart for the camp set up at Skaramangas at about 11am. The aim is transfer about 1,000 refugees there immediately.

Meanwhile the tension among the migrants and refugees, who are living in appalling conditions, is rising with clashes among them increasing.

According to a Coast Guard report, two to three people got into a fight over a mobile phone early on Monday, with a refugee from Lebanon being hospitalized in Voula. No arrests were carried out, however an investigation has been launched.
