An off-duty police officer was killed in Andravida of Ilia, while he was trying to stop a break-in in a local home.
According to reports, the off-duty police officer attempted to apprehend the thief as soon as he took notice of the break-in attempt. The thief however attacked the police officer with a knife.
The gravely-injured police officer was rushed to the hospital of Amaliada, where doctors were unable to help. The local police force has launched an operation in order to locate the thief.
A 30-year-old man has been detained by the police as a suspect.
