The Appeal court is scheduled to examine the appeal filed by Vicky Stamati, wife of Akis Tsohatzopoulos, who was sentenced to 12 year imprisonment in October. Mrs. Stamati is appealing the sentence due to the impact on her mental health and her upbringing of her underage child.

The deposition of assistant professor of Psychology at the University of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Fountoulakis is expected to be paramount in determining the fate of the appeal. The court is expected to come to a decision within a few hours.

Mrs. Stamati was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment in October for her participation in a bribery and corruption scandal, which also saw her brother, husband and daughter-in-law, among others, sentenced. Following the trial, Mrs. Stamati was hospitalized numerous times, as she claimed to suffer from anxiety and stress.
