The leader of DIMAR Fotis Kouvelis gave an interview to Vima 99.5 regarding the upcoming elections, the recent developments in the center left and the possibility of his party rejoining the coalition government.
Regarding the upcoming municipal and regional government elections in May, Mr. Kouvelis estimated that they will be highly politicized, but the focus will shift away from the bailout that dominated previous elections. As for the elections for European Parliament, the DIMAR leader explained that his party would align itself with the European Socialist party.
Mr. Kouvelis clarified that while his party is not leaning towards opposition leaders SYRIZA, he is not considering a return to the government coalition as there are fundamental differences on key policies. The DIMAR leader stated that he is open to alliances, but does not believe that the “Initiative of 58” has any potential.
The DIMAR leader addressed the reported flirtation of some of his party members with the “58” and PASOK, but claimed that it was “water under the bridge” and that things have changed. Mr. Kouvelis maintained that his intention is to help revive the center left and will soon publish a detailed declaration.
