The Mayor of Athens Giorgos Kaminis was interviewed by SKAI TV and expressed his opinion that the solution to racist violence must be political, claiming that the Police is not the appropriate.
Mr. Kaminis, who was speaking from New York City where he is on an official visit, claimed that phenomena of racist violence have increased to fill the void left by the absence of municipal and police authorities. Mr. Kaminis specifically referred to Golden Dawn.
Mr. Kaminis met with New York City’s mayor Michael Bloomberg, with whom he came to an agreement for technical assistance towards city growth. Mr. Kaminis was also invited to speak at the Voice of America and explained that Greece has a lot to learn fro New York, while noting that the Attica basin must become one grand municipality, with the Mayor and municipality controlling transports, networks, healthcare, social services and the police.
