Water company EYDAP has announced that as of February it will provide free water for about 58,000 households which are facing financial difficulties and will implement a settlement program for debts over 60 euros.

According to the EYDAP statement, its plan for free water involves providing 6 cubic meters of water per trimester for each household with two members. A further 3 cubic meters of water will be provided for each additional household member. Those interested must apply for the water company’s new social tariff must submit an application over the next few days.

Furthermore, EYDAP will carry out debt settlements and write off fines and interest rate for beneficiaries. This settlement will be carried out for debts over 60 euros, with the debtor having to pay a minimum installment of 20 euros. Should a debt be late in the payment of three installments, then the water company may cut the water supply.
