The Council of State found that the tenure of the General Inspector of Public Administration Leandros Rakintzis effectively ended in 2009.

The controversial decision came after the Council convened on the 31st of December, after a teacher file a complaint. As a result of this decision all of the administrative acts signed by Mr. Rakintzis over the past six years are considered void.

Mr. Rakintzis later appeared on the Alpha 98.9 radio station where he commented on the State Council ruling, explaingin that he does not feel ‘deposed’.

According to Mr. Rakintzis “99% of [his] work is preparatory” and as such his decisions as General Inspector of Public Administration may only be challenged within 60 days of being issued.
