The Ministry of Finances has announced that it will extend the deadline for the payment of road tax for 2016 until Friday, the 8th of January. This deadline also applies for taxpayers who want to give up their license plates.

Furthermore, the Ministry warns that no further extensions will be granted – late payers will see their road tax doubled – and stressed that any payments can be made via the banks or online.

Based on the divs that were published on Tuesday, road tax for about 4.5 million vehicles had been paid, with the government hoping to collect 1.1 billion euros total.
