The employees of the Port Authority of Thessaloniki (OLTH) have announced a three-hour walk between noon and 3pm for Wednesday in order to protest against the planned privatization of the port.
A press conference has been scheduled for 1pm, where the employees will explain their position on privatization fund TAIPED and the government plans to suddenly privatize the port.
According to the employees, TAIPED and the government disregarded the recommendation of MPs, all political parties participating in the Financial Affairs Committee, local government, municipal and regional government, as well as “the vast majority of productive bodies of Thessaloniki”.
On Monday TAIPED announced its intention to initiate procedures for the sale of 67% share of the port authority of Thessaloniki, which includes exclusive management rights of the port until 2051.
