In contrast to the sunny weather on Christmas Day, the weather on New Year’s Day is expected to be frosty and cloudy, while mountainous areas in Greece will see snow.

According to the national meteorological service, the weather will begin to get worse as of Monday, with wind speeds gradually picking up throughout the day and temperatures plummeting in the evenings, with northern areas expected to see frost.

By Wednesday there might be local showers in many areas, primarily in central and northern areas in Greece, where there is also a chance of snowfall. On Thursday – New Year’s Eve – the bad weather will have spread to most areas in the country, with a good chance of sleet.

On Friday, New Year’s Day, the temperature will continue to drop, with the possibility of snowfall in the north of the country and Macedonia. The adverse conditions will begin to recede later on in the evening.
