The Ministry of Finances has announced that the primary surplus at the end of August was estimated to be 2.5 billion euros (1.3% GDP), more than double the surplus the year before, when it was estimated to be 1.2 billion euros (0.6% GDP).

According to the Ministry’s statement, this development confirms the government estimation that the set goal of a 1.5% GDP primary surplus for the general government is likely to be achieved and perhaps even exceeded.
