In light of the Monday meeting of the Government Employment Council, the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (ESEE) has stressed the need for a “social agreement” between the business world and the government and announced a number of proposals to support employment.
Discussions at the Monday-morning meeting were focused on developing a national strategy for promoting initiatives and interventions designed to boost employment and create new jobs, as well as coordinating existing efforts in order to take greater advantage of available funds.
According to ESEE’s statement, in order to tackle the “explosive” rate of unemployment, the lack of employees, the emigration of young scientists and professions and to take advantage of the technical know-how and experience, a new approach is needed in identifying, planning and implementing such critical social and financial reforms.
ESEE argued that businesses which have been consistent during the crisis must be supported and claimed that a new national agreement between the government and the business sector was be signed, that “will send a strong message of Greek solidarity to our European partners and creditors”.
