Award-winning journalist and SYRIZA’s MEP candidate Stelios Kouloglou recently gave an interview to media in FYROM, where he blamed the “preposterous naming dispute” on the politics of Antonis Samaras.

Mr. Kouloglou explained that Mr. Samaras’ political outlook on the naming dispute have resulted in “political and national suicide” and has provoked a nationalistic resurgence in Greece.

The MEP candidate further noted that he calls FYROM “Macedonia, by its name, like the rest of the world” and stressed that a peaceful and agreeable solution is necessary so that “Greece [can] find a way to save its honor”.

New Democracy’s press spokesperson Anna Michel Asimakopoulou claimed that SYRIZA’s positions are “contrary to our national interests”, with Mr. Kouloglou responding that Mr. Samaras is responsible for ballooning the issue, while accusing the PM of using national matters to create his political career.
