The leader of the opposition and president of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras had formally requested that the recent agreement struck between the coalition government and the troika be published in parliament.

In his request to the Ministers of Labor and Finances, Mr. Tsipras and his parliamentary group assert that the deal is a essentially a new bailout, citing a report from the Efimerida ton Syntakton which “reveals that the government is diligently hiding the new onerous, bailout-mandated regulations in employment relations” and accused the government of “playing media games with the primary surplus against the Greek people ahead of the elections in May”.

According to Mr. Tsipras, the newspaper report reveals that the deal includes a certain timetable and regulations that will bring “an end to employee rights and the people’s dignity”. The opposition leader pointed out that “the revelation of the document in English suggests that the current deal is part of a greater text, which was composed based on the previous two bailouts”.

Mr. Tsipras further remarked that the newspaper’s report “puts and end to Mr. Samaras’ lies and claims that there will be no new bailout. It has been proven that he has already agreed to the deregulation of dismissals, the abolition of triennials and the collapse of the insurance funds. It is obvious that some would like to go to the elections without informing the people or the government Ministers themselves”.
