As the dust settles from the fuss that Mr. Tsipras caused over the IMF’s role in the negotiations, the extent of the shortsighted and dangerous games he continues to play becomes more apparent. All of the institutions, including the American ones, have categorically ruled out the possibility of the IMF leaving Greece. From Merkel to Obama, everyone is clarifying to Mr. Tsipras that the IMF is necessary to continue the program.

The US President’s intervention that the Greek Prime Minister is faced with difficult decisions explains, but does not justify the war that the ever ready Mr. Tsipras started. At a time when the government is struggling to complete the review as soon as possible, it is absurd to open up a new front, which you know may have a boomerang effect. As it did after all…

Mr. Tsipras’ transition from the easy and inexpensive populist promises, to the harsh reality of managing authority was and remains, as it would seem, problematic. He cannot endure the weight of the difficult and painful decisions that he is trying to cover up with his changes, by creating enemies. We experienced and paid dearly for the consecutive delays in the infamous hard negotiation from last summer.

The country though, the economy and society cannot live through a repeat of last summer’s tragicomedy. Another hard negotiation that will result even more painful measures of worse will see the country on the brink of catastrophe. This cannot be acceptable, even by Mr. Tsipras’ remaining supporters.

There is little time left to reach an agreement and the warnings are explicit. They must stop trying to find enemies and focus on not leading the country into another adventure, because their shoulders cannot bear the difficult decisions…
