The Coast Guard authorities of Igoumenitsa and Preveza arrested three men in relation to a rudderless speedboat that was located on Friday about 40 miles southwest of Paxi with 35 migrants on board.
According to reported, the speedboat belongs to a 60-year-old former police officer, who was involved in various businesses in Ioannina.
During the search and rescue operation, the 60-year-old man appeared in the port authority of Igoumenitsa and reported his speedboat missing. He was promptly arrested for possible involvement in the human trafficking.
The rescued migrants have identified two young men from Lygia near Preveza, who apparently kept them in a shack in the mountains for three days.
