The great archeological findings in Amphipolis and the revelations that are yet to come when we discover what is inside the tomb prove that the Greek land still has many secrets.

The pundits estimate that the discovery is similar to that of Philip’s tomb by professor Andronikos in the 1970s, which was a great contribution to the efforts of the Greek government at the time in the Macedonian dispute.

The secrets of the tomb in Amphipolis have been covered in the international press for the past few days. Greece is being talked about throughout the world once again and this time, not with contempt.

When everything seems bleak in our corner of the world – the Russian embargo, the civil strife in Iraq, the bombings in Gaza and Israel – the discovery of an ancient tomb has helped Greece overcome the crisis, at least according to the media.

Not that this is any solution to the problems which continue to have a very serious impact on the people.

The optimism though is a breath of fresh air, able to change the climate both domestically and internationally. And that is needed, to support the great efforts of the Greek people in recent years to overcome the financial crisis.
