The police announced that it has arrested a 30-year-old priest from Lagadas, Thessaloniki as the “mastermind” of a gang which would extract money from unemployed people, in exchange for finding them work. A 45-year-old and 40-year-old lawyer are also involved in the scam, with the police having arrested the 45-year-old.

According to the police report, the gang had established a job seeking company in order to appear legitimate. It is estimated that the gang managed to food 150 to 160 people, promising to find them employment in Greece and abroad.

Four of the gang’s victims even moved overseas to Cyprus and Germany for work, however when they arrived they soon found out that they had been scammed.

The police announced that the 30-year-old priest has previously faced similar charges of fraud.
