The Coast Guard reported that early on Thursday morning it rescued 32 migrants who were off the northeast shore and a further 28 from the southeast of Lesvos .

According to the official report, the Coast Guard launched a rescue operation when it became apparent that the boat with the 32 migrants was sinking and they were in danger.

A short while later the Coast Guard located another boat containing 28 migrants, who were also rescued. All 60 migrants were taken to Mytilene and appear to be in good health.
