The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe, the Middle East and Africa of the U.S. Department of Commerce Matthew Murray stressed that the Obama administration would continue to support Greece. The American official was a keynote speaker on the first day of the 3rd Greek Investment Forum that is being held in New York on the 11th and 12th of June.

Mr. Murray referred to his recent communication with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on matters of trade cooperation and investments, with an emphasis on SMEs and asserted that the financial and investment climate in Greece has improved. Afterwards he spoke of the important steps in implementing reforms and the necessity to support growth efforts.

The American official argued that Greece is a model country for economic reform, in relation to the overall progress that has been achieved and the improvement of the investment climate, thanks to the new investment legislation.

The Greek Investment Forum, which is organized by the Athens Exchange and the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce, is focused on growth in Greece and supporting the Greek economy. A list of the Forum’s agenda is available here.
