While SYRIZA appears to be going from strength to strength in the polls and appears able to challenge New Democracy in future elections, the coalition party’s factions are coming to major disagreements. The latest instance of internal strife came from Petros Lafazanis’ Left Platform, which published a number of observations entitled “SYRIZA’s dangerous ‘new ideas’” on the iskra.gr website.
The main argument in the published article are that the four SYRIZA proposals of a “Marshall Plan” for Greece, primary surpluses and balanced budgets, restoration of Greece’s credibility and return to the markets, as well as a “credible” banking system constitute “a historic compromise with the Eurozone and international system that is utopian and dangerous at the same time”.
The Left Platform was prompted by the recent estimations of SYRIZA MP Giorgos Stathakis, Yannis Dragasakis and Yannis Milios, who have expressed opinions in favor of negotiating with Greece’s creditors.
