Mrs. Mona Papadakou, a former assistant of Mr. Papakonstantinou, claims that due to the nature of her job, she had no connection to safeguarding, editing or otherwise involved with the original CD sent by French authorities. She is expected to complete her testimony on Wednesday and is considered one of the former Minister’s closest associates.
An issue arose when a former IT consultant of Mr. Papakonstantinou, A. Zavras, sent his testimony in writing, as he is currently residing and working in Germany. The committee needs to decide upon how they are to handle witnesses outside of Greece. The Committee president Mr. Markogiannakis intends to summon overseas witnesses, such as Maria Panteli, who appears to have an account credited with 550 million dollars.
Committee vice president M. Varvitsiotis however claimed that since her tax profile was examined by former SDOE head I. Kapeleris, a further statement would be rather pointless. The rest of New Democracy MPs participating in the Committee are adamant that she should testify.
