Both President Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Antonis Samaras are in Berlin. Mr. Papoulias has been in Germany since Monday, invited by his German counterpart Joachim Gauck, to be present at for the closing of a museum exhibition on Ancient Olympia.

Prime Minister Samaras is to meet German chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday morning. The meeting between the two EU leaders, the third since August, will take place following an economics conference organized by the “Die Welt” newspaper. Mr. Samaras and ECB president Mario Draghi are the mains speakers.

Also expected to be present at the conference are A. Merkel, European Parliament president Martin Schultz, Olli Rehn, Socialdemocrat chancellor candidate Peer Steinbrück, Bundesbank president G. Vaintman, British Minister of Finances. G. Osborne, Spanish Minister of Finances Luis de Guindos, Philip Restler, Wolfgang Schäuble, and German Minister of Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle. The PM will also meet former German Minister of Foreign Affairs Hans Dietrich Genscher.

Chancellor representative Stephen Zainpert announced that the meeting of the two leaders will be an unofficial exchange of opinion and closed to the press. The Greek PM will be accompanied by Minister of Growth, Competitiveness, Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Kostis Hatzidakis and Deputy Minister Notis Mitarakis.
