A meeting between a delegation of FIFA and UEFA with Greek football teams has been cancelled by the president of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) Giorgos Girtzikis, just 30 minutes before the meeting was scheduled to begin.

This development has both surprised and angered the Greek teams, while the FIFA and UEFA have arranged to meet again with the Deputy Minister of Sport Stavros Kontonis. Although the 2016/2017 football season was meant to begin in late August, the Deputy Minister decided to postpone it until early September, citing security concerns.

Asked why the 11:00 meeting on Tuesday was cancelled, FIFA/UEFA representative Kostakis Koutsokoumnis responded that he had no idea and that the cancellation was EPO’s decision.
