The former president of PASOK Evangelos Venizelos accused Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and SYRIZA of cynical and brutal exercise of power, in a Monday morning interview on SKAI. Mr. Venizelos pointed the blame to the pension reform and SYRIZA’s financial policy.

Furthermore, Mr. Venizelos argued that the recent statement from party leader Fofi Gennimata, that an abyss separates PASOK from New Democracy, was a mistake and claimed that all pro-European parties must cooperate to save the country. “An abyss doesn’t even separate us from Mr. Tsipras. Only Golden Dawn” he underlined.

Regarding the efforts to rally the center left, Mr. Venizelos claimed that efforts must be made to include the River and Union of Centrists. When asked about Giorgos Papandreou, he commented that a conference cannot take place where those who are meant to be there are excluded so that Mr. Papandreou can attend.

Finally Mr. Venizelos expressed his support for the creation of a new party, with the constituent parties being disbanded and underlined that he will always be present for the country. He also expressed his concern over the possibility of Greece being expelled from the Schengen area.
