The Minister of National Defense and leader of the Independent Greeks Panagiotis Kammenos called the farmers to leave the road blocks and enter talks with the Prime Minister in order to find a solution to their problems.

According to the government partner, who appeared on Mega Channel on Tuesday, the problems that that some land owners who are not actually farmers received subsidies and tax-free diesel, when they did not deserve them, at the expense of real farmers.

Although the farmers and other sectors have begun protesting the pension system reform, Mr. Kammenos was confident that the coalition government will find a solution. He also explained that the reform aims to protect young scientists and tackle tax evasion.

During his interview the National Defense Minister outlined the government’s goals in the negotiations, which is to protect against collective dismissals and avoid any further cuts in main pensions. “The creditor proposal was to cut pensions and our reply was that it is not possible” he noted.
