The first heat wave of the year appears to have arrived in Greece, with temperatures expected to rise to about 34 degrees this week, when the average temperature for this time of the year is about 24 degrees.

The weather will begin to change on Tuesday, with western parts of the country being the first to see a spike in temperatures, while eastern parts of Central Greece, Peloponnesus and Thessaly will be affected the most.

Despite the spike in temperatures, the scattered clouds and levels of humidity will help keep the weather stable, thus avoiding any extremities. The hot weather front will begin retreating on Friday, with showers expected in northern areas in Greece.
