Students, parents and other local residents in Tripoli have demonstrated on Monday morning over the appalling situation in the city’s waste management, which has yet to be resolved.
The demonstrators chanted slogans against the municipal and regional authorities and then marched from the Mayor’s office towards the central Peloponnesus District Government building in the city.
The Deputy District Governor Dina Nikolakou appeared on the local municipal radio station an announced that initiatives have been taken, in coordination with municipal authorities, to tackle the problem.
Mrs. Nikolakou explained that the Governor himself would make announcements within the day and the waste would be taken to a legal landfill site. When asked about this landfill site, she underlined that it will not be the older sites of Levidi or Platoma.
