PAOK scored one its greatest wins in Europe, after defeating Belarusian side Dinamo Minsk 6-1 in Thessaloniki. Team captain Stefanos Athanasiadis was the star player for PAOK and scored a hat trick (11’, 17’, 28’). PAOK gained an early lead thanks to an own goal by Nikolić (4’) and was 4-0 up by half time. In the second half Papadopoulos (50’) and Tzandaris (90’) gave epic proportions to PAOK’s win, while Nikolić (80’) managed to score a goal for his tem near the end of the game.

Panathinaikos on the other hand was defeated 2-1 by Dynamo Moscow in Athens. The “greens” appeared to be in control of the game at the start, however the Russian team scored a goal late with Kokorin in the first half (40’), while Ionov increased Dynamo’s lead early on in the second half (52’). Panathinaikos managed to reduce the score with Dinas (61’), but was unable to keep up.

The third Greek team in the competition, Asteras Tripoli, valiantly drew 1-1 with Turkish side Beşiktaş in Istanbul. Töre put Beşiktaş in the lead early on (33’) and appeared to be in control of the match. The Arcadian team though focused on counter attacks and managed to equalize the game with Parra (88’). This was a significant result for the Tripoli side, in its first foray into the group round of the Europa League.
