The 32-year-old Golden Dawn member Yannis Kazantzoglou, who is accused of actively participating in the murder of Pavlos Fyssas, appeared before the 6th investigative judge of Piraeus shortly after 10am today to plead his case. After his deposition, the court decided to detain Kazantzoglou until the trial.
Based on the case file it appears that Kazantzoglou was the front-seat passenger that accompanied Giorgos Roupakias to the murder scene in Amfiali and escaped arrest after the murder, leaving his mobile phone in the car. Kazantzoglou had previously been questioned about forming a criminal investigation and was released on bail.
Giorgos Roupakias, who is being held at the Malandrino correctional facility, will be questioned on Tuesday about joining and participating in a criminal organization on Tuesday, as well as Golden Dawn’s structure and direction.
