A controversial amendment has been withdrawn, which would allow the Minister of National Defense Dimitris Avramopoulos and the government’s vice president Evangelos Venizelos to use the presidential aircraft has been withdrawn.
The “Embraer” and “Gulfstream” presidential aircraft, which are operated by the Public Figure Transport Squadron of the Air Force, may only be used by the President of Democracy, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The amendment was included in a draft bill and promoted by the Minister of National Defense. The amendment also provided the reformation of General Secretariat of Financial Planning and Defense Investments, which was abolished in 2006, as the General Secretariat of Defense Affairs.
