The former Minister of Finances Giorgos Papakonstantinou has requested that he submit his written explanation to the Parliamentary Committee examining the “Lagarde list” scandal on August 10th. Mr. Papakonstantinou claims he needs the time in order to go through the extensive case of 19,400 pages.

Mr. Papakonstantinou’s attorney P. Vasilakopoulos explained that the seven days time originally given by the courts “lacks any seriousness” and that they have to provide a “reasonable” amount of time for a defendant to examine a case-file. Mr. Vasilakopoulos stated that if his client went through 100 pages a day, he would still need 6 months to prepare.

The former Minister has also requested via his lawyer to be issued a copy of the “Lagarde list” handed over by Mr. Venizelos and the subsequent copy of the list sent by the French authorities, as requested by the current Minister of Finances Giannis Stournaras.
