The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest divs regarding the labor force in August and found that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in August 2016 was 23.4% compared to 24.6% in August 2015 and the upward revised 23.3% in July 2016.

The number of employed amounted to 3,687,465 persons. The number of unemployed amounted to 1,126,455 while the number of inactive to 3,228,437. The number of employed persons increased by 57,683 persons compared with August 2015 (+1.6%) and decreased by 7,001 persons compared with July 2016 (-0.2%).

Unemployed persons decreased by 59,894 persons compared with August 2015 (-5%) and increased by 1,669 persons compared with July 2016 (+0.1%). Inactive persons, i.e. persons that neither work, neither look for a job, decreased by 36,319 persons compared with August 2015 (-1.1%) and increased by 2,238 persons compared with July 2016 (+0.1%).
