The State Council is scheduled to convene behind closed doors on Monday afternoon in order to discuss the television licensing law, with another meeting scheduled for Wednesday.

The decision for a closed doors meeting appears to have been taken by the Council president Nikolaos Sakellariou. State Councilor Georgios Papageorgiou is scheduled to complete his presentation.

Mr. Papageorgiou has previously supported the controversial law, which essentially circumvents the National Council for Radio and Television (ESR) in the licensing process. After Mr. Papageorgiou, the Council’s judges will debate on the constitutionality of the law.
