The Euro Working Group is scheduled to convene in Brussels on Thursday, with the execution of the Greek bailout program – including the critical pension system reform – being on the agenda.

According to the European Commission spokesperson Margaritis Schinas, the institutions are currently evaluating the draft proposal for a the pension system reform and will make an official statement when the bailout program review begins.

According to early reports however, many of the European Finance Ministers appear to be reserved over the reform proposal, primarily due to businesses being further burdened and the rate of unemployment not dropping.

Sources however indicate that the 170-page draft proposal will not be examined in great detail, but will rather be a discussion issue as part of the Greek program’s ‘state of play’.

The Greek government representative at the EWG, Alternate Finance Minister Giorgos Houliarakis, may however be called upon to provide clarifications and explanations on various aspects of the reform proposal.
