“The louder the voices in Europe get, the more we can do things outside of the bailout agreement” argued the Minister of Environment and Energy Panos Skourletis, in reference to the recent statement of support from French President Hollande.
Mr. Skourletis, who gave an interview to ANT1, noted that everyone was aware of the difficulties and measures included in the bailout agreement that will be taken. The Minister argued that the pension system reform must be carried out based on solidarity and admitted that while there will be pension cuts, they will be incremental and affect pensions over 1,000 euros.
Furthermore, Mr. Skourletis underlined that steps were taken towards tackling tax evasion by the previous SYRIZA/Independent Greeks administration. He also stated that any changes to the “100 installments” settlement must be flexible enough to cover all problems that arise.
