The Finance Ministers and central bankers of the G20 are planning on request from the Eurozone members to consider a significant reduction of the Greek public debt, provided that Greece fulfills its commitments.

Although the G20 meeting in Ankara on the 4th and 5th of September will focus on the latest financial crisis in China and the gradual drop in economic development, a US official told journalists that the efforts in efforts must be emphasized, in order to improve the prospects for financial recovery.

The US official argued that Greece must continue to implement the agreed upon reforms, so that the country’s creditors and partners may then fulfill their commitment for significant debt relief. The US official also noted that the IMF must continue to be involved in the Greek program.
